Description
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory for candidates appearing in NEET UG 2026 regarding biometric verification procedures. The examination is scheduled for May 3, 2026, and biometric checks will be conducted after frisking and before entry into the exam hall.
As per the advisory, candidates may face issues during biometric verification due to reasons such as device errors, poor fingerprint quality, network or UIDAI connectivity issues, or medical conditions affecting fingerprint scanning. In such situations, candidates will not be denied entry but will be allowed through an alternate verification method.
Manual verification process in special cases
If biometric authentication cannot be completed, candidates will undergo manual identity verification at the exam centre. They will be required to present valid ID proof for confirmation.
An undertaking form will also be provided at the centre by the Centre Superintendent or Observer, which candidates must fill and submit. After completing this process, they will be allowed to appear for the exam.
Officials have assured that candidates will be guided at centres to ensure a smooth verification process and avoid delays. The advisory also urges students to remain calm and cooperate with exam authorities.
Biometric checks will not interrupt exam time
NTA has clarified that biometric verification will not take place during examination hours (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM). For PwD/PwBD candidates, the exam duration may extend up to 6:00 PM. This ensures that the examination process is not disrupted once it begins.
Clarification on admit card printing issue
A candidate raised a concern about the small size of the photograph and signature on the printed admit card. In response, the NTA stated that candidates may print the admit card in its available format and assured that it will be accepted at the centre as long as the identity details match.
Candidates are advised to carry their admit card along with valid photo identification and strictly follow all instructions provided at their examination centres.
