The Andaman and Nicobar Police has started the recruitment process for 2026, announcing 495 vacancies under Group B (Non-Gazetted) and Group C categories. The notification was released on April 25, 2026, and the online application window is now open, with submissions accepted until May 17, 2026.

This recruitment drive covers several departments, including the Executive Branch, Police Radio, Motor Transport, Marine Force, Fire & Emergency Services, and the India Reserve Battalion. Candidates must apply through the official online portal, as offline applications are not accepted.

Selection process

The recruitment will be conducted in multiple stages. It begins with the Physical Measurement and Endurance Test (PM&ET), followed by a written examination. Depending on the role, candidates may also be required to take a skill or trade test. The final stages include document verification and a medical examination.

The PM&ET is qualifying in nature and includes physical standards such as height, chest measurement, and endurance activities. Male candidates must complete a 1600-metre run within seven minutes, while female candidates are required to complete an 800-metre run in five minutes.

Important dates and application fee

The application process started at 11:00 AM and will close at 11:59 PM on May 17, 2026. The examination date will be announced later.

The application fee is Rs 100 for male candidates belonging to General, OBC, and EWS categories. Female candidates, as well as those from ST, PwD, and Ex-servicemen categories, are exempted from paying the fee. Payments can be made online through net banking, UPI, or debit/credit cards.

Vacancies and eligibility

The 495 vacancies include roles such as Sub-Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Constable, Fireman, and other technical posts. For example, 155 Constable (Executive) posts are available in the Executive Branch, while 71 vacancies are for Radio Operator (ASI) in the Police Radio unit.

Educational qualifications vary depending on the post, ranging from Class 10 and 12 to diplomas and graduate degrees in fields like electronics, communication, and engineering. Some roles also require additional qualifications such as ITI certificates, driving licences, or relevant work experience.

The age criteria differ by position. For Sub-Inspector and ASI posts, the upper age limit is 30 years. For Constable roles, the age range is typically 18 to 25 years for men and up to 30 years for women, with relaxations applicable as per government norms.
