The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Merit Scholarship Scheme 2025–26 is now open for applications, offering financial assistance to students from economically weaker backgrounds pursuing professional courses. The online registration process began on April 1, 2026, and will remain active until May 15, 2026 (6:00 PM).

The scheme, managed by the ONGC Foundation, is designed to support Indian students who are either enrolled or about to begin the first year of full-time professional programmes such as Engineering, MBBS, MBA, Geology, and Geophysics. A total of 2,000 scholarships will be awarded under this initiative.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must have secured at least 60% marks or a minimum 6.0 CGPA in their most recent qualifying examination. The upper age limit for applicants is 30 years. Income criteria also apply: the annual family income should not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh for SC/ST candidates and Rs 2 lakh for OBC/General/EWS categories. Additionally, 50% of the scholarships are reserved for female students.

Courses covered and application process

The scholarship is available for students admitted to the first year of Engineering, MBBS, MBA, Geology, and Geophysics programmes. Eligible candidates must apply through the National Scholarship Portal.

Applicants are required to upload academic certificates, income proof, and other supporting documents during the application process. Only students enrolled in the first year of their course are eligible to apply.

Scholarship benefits and renewal

Selected candidates will receive Rs 48,000 per year, which will be directly transferred to their bank accounts. The scholarship can be renewed annually, provided students maintain a minimum academic performance of 60% or equivalent.

The ONGC Foundation has also stated that continued eligibility depends on meeting the prescribed academic and eligibility conditions each year.
