Description
The Staff Selection Commission has released the official notification for the Combined Hindi Translators Examination (JHT) 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill multiple Group B non-gazetted positions in various ministries and departments under the Government of India. The available roles include Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Senior Hindi Translator, and Senior Translation Officer.
The online application process has already started, and interested candidates can apply through the official portal after completing the registration process.
Application schedule and fee details
As per the notification, the application window opened on April 23, 2026, and will remain active until May 14, 2026. Candidates can pay the application fee until May 15, 2026. The correction window will be available from May 19 to May 20, 2026. The Paper 1 exam is expected to be conducted between August and September 2026.
Applicants from General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of Rs 100. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD, women, and ex-servicemen categories are exempted from paying the fee.

A total of 84 tentative vacancies have been announced, which may be revised later. The positions include:

Candidates must hold a master’s degree in Hindi or English. Additionally, they should have either a diploma/certification in translation or relevant work experience in translation-related roles within government departments, depending on the post.
The age limit for applicants is between 18 and 30 years as of August 1, 2026. Age relaxation will be provided as per government norms.

Selection process and exam pattern
The recruitment process consists of two stages:
Paper 1: A computer-based test with multiple-choice questions on General Hindi and General English, carrying a total of 200 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.
Paper 2: A descriptive paper that includes translation and essay writing, also carrying 200 marks.
Candidates are required to complete one-time registration and upload necessary documents before submitting their application form.
