About the PACE Satellite Mission

The satellite was launched in February 2024 into a Sun-synchronous orbit, which enables it to capture consistent global observations under uniform lighting conditions. PACE is fitted with the Ocean Color Instrument (OCI), an advanced optical spectrometer that measures ocean colour across a broad range of wavelengths, from ultraviolet to shortwave infrared.
