Habitat and Distribution

Jungle cats inhabit a variety of ecosystems, including grasslands, wetlands, scrublands, and semi-arid regions. They generally avoid dense forests and heavily urbanised areas, preferring open and agricultural landscapes.

Their distribution includes India and Nepal, and extends across southwest Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Egypt, and southern China.
