The fauna is equally diverse, featuring elephants, tigers, leopards, sloth bears, gaur, blackbuck, spotted deer, wild boar, Nilgiri langur, and bonnet macaque.

The reserve is also home to indigenous tribes such as the Irula and Kurumba, who rely on forest resources for their livelihoods. However, growing human pressures, including illegal tourism infrastructure, threaten the ecosystem.
