Description
The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has announced the result of the Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Preliminary Examination 2026. Candidates who took part in the Daroga recruitment exam can now check the result and download the merit list from the official website of the commission.
The result has been released in PDF format, which contains the roll numbers of candidates who have qualified for the next stage of the selection process the main written examination. This recruitment drive aims to fill 1,799 vacancies for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police in the Home Department (Police Branch), Government of Bihar.
Over 7.26 lakh candidates appeared for the exam
The recruitment process is being conducted under Advertisement No. 05/2025, issued on September 23, 2025, for direct recruitment to 1,799 SI positions.
According to BPSSC, 10,36,702 candidates registered for the preliminary exam, while 7,26,231 candidates actually appeared. The examination was held in two shifts on January 18 and January 21, 2026.
However, 29,272 candidates were disqualified due to procedural mistakes and cases of misconduct during the exam. The commission listed the following reasons for disqualification:
Misconduct: 14 candidates
Incorrect roll number on OMR sheet: 14,591 candidates
Wrong question booklet number on OMR: 9,992 candidates
OMR sheet not signed: 529 candidates
Hindi paragraph not written: 1,139 candidates
English paragraph not written: 2,851 candidates
Neither Hindi nor English paragraph written: 156 candidates
After removing these candidates from the process, the answer sheets of 6,96,959 candidates were evaluated.
Candidates shortlisted for the main examination
Based on the rules of the recruitment process, the commission shortlisted candidates up to 20 times the number of vacancies in each reservation category according to their performance in the preliminary exam.
Those who have qualified will now be eligible to appear in the Bihar Police SI Main Written Competitive Examination, which is the next stage of selection. The schedule for the mains exam and admit card details will be announced soon on the BPSSC website.
