Over the past year, 57 new billionaires were added to the list, while 27 individuals dropped out, resulting in a net increase of 24 billionaires compared to 2025.

The collective wealth of Indian billionaires has grown by 10% year-on-year, reaching ?112.6 trillion. Key insights from the report include:

  • 199 billionaires experienced a rise in their wealth

  • 109 billionaires saw stagnant or declining wealth

  • Women constitute around 7% of India’s billionaire population

Mukesh Ambani Retains Title of Asia’s Richest Person

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, remains both India’s richest person and Asia’s wealthiest individual. Important details about his wealth:

  • Net worth: Rs 9.8 trillion

  • Growth: 9% increase compared to last year

Meanwhile, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, continues to hold the position of India’s second-richest person, despite a 14% decline in his wealth, bringing his net worth to ?7.5 trillion.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra Among India’s Top Billionaires

The list also highlights the rising presence of women among India’s richest. Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies, is ranked third among India’s wealthiest with a net worth of ?3.2 trillion. She remains the only woman in India’s top 10 billionaires.

In total, 23 Indian women billionaires hold ?9.8 trillion collectively, reflecting the growing influence of female entrepreneurs and corporate leaders in India.

Healthcare Sector Leads New Billionaire Creation

A notable trend in the Hurun Rich List 2026 is the shift in sectors driving wealth creation. The healthcare sector produced the largest number of new billionaires, highlighting strong growth in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and healthcare services.

Sector-wise new billionaire additions:

  • Healthcare: 53

  • Industrial products: 36

  • Consumer goods: 31

Cyrus Poonawalla: India’s Biggest Wealth Gainer

Cyrus S. Poonawalla, founder and chairman of the Serum Institute of India, recorded the largest wealth gain in India, with his net worth rising by ?0.91 trillion, driven by global demand for vaccines and healthcare innovations.

Mumbai Remains India’s Billionaire Hub

Mumbai, India’s financial capital, continues to be the country’s main billionaire hub:

  • 95 billionaires reside in Mumbai

  • 15 new billionaires were added this year

However, Mumbai lost its title as Asia’s billionaire capital to Shenzhen, China, which now hosts 133 billionaires. Globally, the cities with the highest number of billionaires are:

  • New York: 146

  • Shanghai: 120

  • Beijing: 107

  • London: 102

Youngest Billionaire in India

The average age of Indian billionaires is 67 years, slightly above the global average of 65 years. India’s youngest billionaire is Ritesh Agarwal, founder of OYO, aged 32, with a net worth of Rs 14,440 crore.
