The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) issued the official notification for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination 2026 on February 4, 2026. The recruitment will be conducted through the preliminary examination to fill vacancies in the Civil Services and the Indian Forest Service under the Central Government.

The online application process commenced on February 4, 2026, at upsconline.nic.in. Interested and eligible candidates must complete their applications by February 24, 2026, before 6:00 PM. As per the notification, 933 vacancies are proposed to be filled through the Civil Services Examination 2026.

Application Fee and Eligibility

Applicants from the General, OBC, and EWS categories must pay an application fee of Rs 100. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and female categories are also required to pay Rs 100, as specified in the official notice. However, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are exempted from payment. The fee must be submitted through online mode only.

Educational Qualification and Age Limit

• A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university is mandatory.

• The age limit is 21 to 32 years as on the prescribed date.

• Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to reserved category candidates in accordance with government norms.

Selection Procedure and Admit Card

The selection process comprises:

• Preliminary Examination

• Main Examination

• Interview/Personality Test

• Document Verification

• Medical Examination

UPSC will release e-Admit Cards on the last working day of the week preceding the examination. Candidates who change their scribe seven days prior to the exam will receive their admit cards three days before the test. Admit cards will be available exclusively on the official website.

Examination Guidelines
