Description
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has postponed the SSC GD Examination 2026. Candidates registered for the Constable (GD) posts in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and SSF, as well as Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles, can check the official notification on the SSC website.
According to the official announcement, the Computer-Based Examination (CBE), which was earlier scheduled to begin on February 23, 2026, has been deferred until further notice. Revised examination dates will be released in due course. The commission has also clarified that the slot booking facility will not be available for this examination.
Exam city details will be shared with candidates approximately 8 to 10 days before the start of the examination, while admit cards will be issued 2 to 3 days prior to the exam date.
SSC GD 2026 Exam Pattern
The Computer-Based Examination will feature a single objective-type paper comprising 80 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks. The paper will cover the following subjects:
General Intelligence and Reasoning
General Knowledge and General Awareness
Elementary Mathematics
English/Hindi
The examination will be conducted in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect response. Candidates are advised to answer carefully to avoid deduction of marks.

As per the tentative vacancy list, a total of 25,487 posts are expected to be filled. The force-wise distribution is as follows:
Border Security Force (BSF): 616 posts
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF): 14,595 posts
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF): 5,490 posts
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB): 1,764 posts
Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP): 1,293 posts
Assam Rifles (AR): 1,706 posts
Secretariat Security Force (SSF): 23 posts
The application process for SSC GD 2026 began on December 1 and concluded on December 31, 2025. Candidates are advised to visit the official SSC website for further updates and announcements.
