DBS Bank has become the first issuer in the Asia-Pacific region to pilot Visa Intelligent Commerce (VIC), marking a major step forward in agent-initiated digital payments. The collaboration with Visa is designed to test AI-ready card credentials, authentication systems, and payment signals, ensuring that the ecosystem is prepared for secure, consent-based transactions conducted by artificial intelligence agents on behalf of customers.

During pilot trials, DBS and Visa successfully demonstrated AI-powered transactions in real-world scenarios, including food and beverage purchases using DBS and POSB credit and debit cards. A Visa-commissioned study revealed that 77% of residents use generative AI chatbots in daily life, with eight in ten consumers relying on AI for online shopping.
