Celebrity chef Kunal Kapur has unveiled Pincode Bungalow, a new standalone restaurant nestled in a restored Portuguese home in Vagator, Goa. Departing from the brand’s mall-centric roots, this new location celebrates India’s regional flavors and evokes a strong sense of nostalgia. The first standalone bungalow under the Pincode banner combines a relaxed coastal vibe with glimpses of old-world architecture, transporting diners to a bygone era.

During the official opening, Kapur shared a heartfelt note about the heritage-inspired concept: “Goa, we are here. Pincode found a new home. An old Portuguese bungalow in Goa. PINCODE BUNGALOW is now OPEN for you! See you there.”

The Legacy Behind Pincode

The Pincode brand draws inspiration from Kapur’s childhood, particularly his grandmother’s habit of using postal codes while sending letters across India. This idea extends to the restaurant’s menu, where each dish is linked to a specific PIN code representing the region it hails from.

In an interview with YS Life, Kapur explained, “The simple act of putting down pincodes not only served as a symbol of connectivity but also reflected the essence of India’s diverse culture and regional uniqueness. It signifies the power of a few digits in uniting people across geographies, similar to how food connects us all, transcending borders and backgrounds.”

Examples on the menu include 261203, inspired by Mahmudabad’s shami kebabs, and 673121, representing Kalpetta’s coastal chicken curry.

Expanding the Pincode Brand

Pincode made its debut at Dubai Hills Mall in Dubai and has since expanded to Abu Dhabi (The Galleria), New Delhi (Civil Lines and Saket), Indore, Mohali (CP67), and now Goa with Pincode Bungalow. The restaurant serves a variety of regional small plates alongside signature dishes such as Pressure Cooker Chicken Curry, pan-seared fish reflecting coastal flavors, Old Delhi-style bread pudding, and Rasmalai Tiramisu.
