IIM Udaipur Hosts India Digital Conclave 2026 on Technology, Governance, and Inclusive Growth

The Indian Institute of Management Udaipur held the third edition of D’Future – India Digital Conclave 2026 in Hyderabad, positioning the forum as a cross-sector dialogue on India’s digital transformation journey. The event brought together senior government officials, academic leaders, corporate executives, startup innovators, and voices from the sports ecosystem to examine how technology can shape economic expansion, institutional robustness, and inclusive development.

Speaking at the opening session, Prof. Ashok Banerjee, Director of IIM Udaipur, addressed the widening skill gap in areas such as artificial intelligence and advanced digital systems. He explained that the institute is responding through technology-oriented MBA programmes and research initiatives designed to reflect global industry practices. He also highlighted IIM Udaipur’s city-based engagement model, aimed at strengthening collaboration between academic institutions and industry hubs across India.

The keynote address was delivered by Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, who reviewed the evolution of India’s digital governance ecosystem over the last decade. He outlined Telangana’s adoption of digital infrastructure for public service delivery, rural connectivity, and agricultural innovation. According to him, technology-led growth in emerging economies requires long-term cooperation among state institutions, universities, and independent research bodies.

Focusing on artificial intelligence, Prof. Ramayya Krishnan, Dean Emeritus at Carnegie Mellon University, spoke about translating AI capabilities into measurable social and economic outcomes. He shared examples ranging from multilingual digital platforms to healthcare access in underserved regions and AI-supported education initiatives backed by the Gates Foundation. He stressed that technology deployment must be accompanied by reskilling initiatives, governance frameworks, and organisational redesign.

The conclave also featured discussions on strengthening national resilience through digital systems, case studies on large-scale public sector transformation including the Ministry of Railways’ GatiShakti programme, and student presentations showcasing AI-based supply chain innovations. The event concluded with a fireside interaction exploring how data analytics and emerging technologies are being applied to sports performance and grassroots inclusion.

Through D’Future 2026, IIM Udaipur reinforced its role as a convenor of forward-looking conversations at the intersection of technology, policy, education, and societal progress.
