Description
India’s civil aviation ecosystem is set to take global focus with Wings India 2026, Asia’s largest civil aviation event, to be held from January 28 to 31, 2026, at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad. The four-day event will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu and will bring together policymakers, industry leaders and innovators to showcase India’s growing influence in the global aviation landscape.
Vision and Theme
Wings India 2026 is built around the theme “Indian Aviation: Paving the Future From Design to Deployment, Manufacturing to Maintenance, Inclusivity to Innovation and Safety to Sustainability.” The event aims to present India’s aviation journey as an integrated value chain, highlighting how regulatory reforms, capital inflows and advanced technologies have accelerated sectoral growth over the last decade.
Transformation of India’s Aviation Sector
India has rapidly positioned itself among the world’s most dynamic aviation markets. Air passenger volumes continue to rise sharply, while domestic airlines have announced unprecedented aircraft acquisition plans, underlining India’s status as a key long-term aircraft market. Significant investments have been made in airport infrastructure, including the development of greenfield airports, modernisation of existing terminals and expansion of regional air connectivity through schemes such as UDAN.
Beyond commercial flying, India is expanding its footprint in MRO services, pilot and crew training, aerospace manufacturing, cargo and logistics, and emerging air mobility solutions. Environmental sustainability has also become a priority, with initiatives focused on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and environmentally efficient airport operations gaining momentum.
International Engagement and Event Highlights
The 2026 edition of Wings India will feature an extensive exhibition, static aircraft showcases, aerobatic flight demonstrations and a high-level global aviation conference. Key segments include a Ministerial Plenary, Global CEOs Forum, executive roundtables and curated B2B and B2G interactions designed to foster partnerships and investment.
Major international and Indian aviation players such as Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, HAL, Dassault, Rolls-Royce, Air India, IndiGo and Akasa Air have confirmed their participation. Delegations at the ministerial level from over 20 countries are expected, reflecting India’s rising strategic relevance in the global aviation ecosystem.
The programme will also include aerial displays by the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team, performances by international aerobatic teams and static displays of more than 31 aircraft. An Aviation Job Fair and Student Innovation Competition will connect industry leaders with emerging talent. With participation from over 150 exhibitors, around 7,500 business visitors and nearly one lakh general visitors, Wings India 2026 is positioned as a milestone event that underscores India’s ambitions to shape the future of global civil aviation.
