The SAMPANN pension management system has been integrated with the UMANG platform, enabling nearly 4 lakh pensioners of the Department of Telecommunications to access their Pension Payment Order (PPO) number and Life Certificate validity status anytime through a single digital portal. This integration marks another important step in India’s digital governance journey, ensuring pensioners can easily obtain essential pension-related information from anywhere without the need for physical visits to offices or banks. Developed by the Office of the Controller General of Communication Accounts, SAMPANN is a flagship digital platform dedicated to managing the entire pension lifecycle, from processing and disbursement to grievance redressal, reflecting a shift toward pensioner-centric governance since its launch in December 2018. With its integration into UMANG, pensioners can now retrieve PPO details and verify Life Certificate validity on a unified platform, improving transparency, accessibility, and service efficiency. Supported by DigiLocker, the system ensures continuous access to vital pension records via mobile or web platforms. UMANG, launched under the Digital India initiative, offers a wide range of Central, State, and local government services through a single app or web portal, using secure authentication methods such as Aadhaar, MPIN, or DigiLocker. The SAMPANN–UMANG integration highlights India’s commitment to inclusive, transparent, and technology-driven service delivery, particularly benefiting senior citizens by ensuring uninterrupted pension services.
