Description

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released an official clarification regarding the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025 Tier-I results after receiving multiple representations from candidates. Several aspirants had raised concerns over a mismatch between their scores and the cut-off figures mentioned in the result notice. Addressing the issue, SSC has assured candidates that the shortlisted lists remain accurate, while acknowledging an error in one of the published cut-off tables.

Reason Behind Candidate Complaints

SSC had declared the Tier-I result of SSC CGL 2025 on December 18, 2025, and later released individual marks for both qualified and non-qualified candidates on January 9, 2026. After the marks became available, some candidates noticed that despite scoring above the cut-off mentioned in the result notice, their names did not appear in List-I, List-II, or List-III.

This led to confusion and concern among candidates who are preparing for the next stage of the examination.

SSC’s Review and Findings

Following the representations, SSC conducted a detailed review of the matter, examining category-wise cut-off marks, candidate scores, and all shortlisted lists. After verification, the Commission confirmed that the evaluation process and shortlisting were carried out correctly.

SSC clarified that List-I, List-II, and List-III, which determine eligibility for the Tier-II examination, are accurate and free from any errors.

Error Found in Published Cut-Off Table

Although the shortlisted lists were found to be correct, SSC admitted that a clerical error occurred in Paragraph 5 of the result write-up, specifically under List-III, which relates to candidates shortlisted for Tier-II (Paper-I) for posts other than Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II.

The cut-off marks and the number of candidates shown in the table under this section were incorrect for certain categories. This discrepancy created confusion among candidates comparing their scores with the published cut-off figures.

Corrected SSC CGL Tier-I Cut-Off Details (List-III)

To clear the confusion, SSC has released a revised and accurate category-wise cut-off table, reflecting the correct cut-off marks and actual number of candidates shortlisted in each category. The revised total also accounts for 29 withheld candidates, who have not yet been included.

No Impact on Shortlisting or Selection

SSC has clearly stated that the correction does not affect the selection process in any way. No changes have been made to the shortlisted candidate lists, and no new candidates have been added or removed. The clarification is strictly limited to correcting the published cut-off data.

Candidates whose names are not present in the shortlisted lists will not be considered qualified, even if their scores appear higher than the initially published incorrect cut-off figures.

Advisory for Candidates

Candidates are advised to refer only to official notifications available on ssc.gov.in for accurate information. Those who have qualified Tier-I should continue their preparation for Tier-II, while all aspirants are encouraged to download and safely keep their scorecards for future reference.
