The Board of School Education, Haryana (BSEH) has postponed the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) 2026. The examination, originally scheduled for January 17 and 18, 2026, will now be conducted on dates that will be announced later. Although the board has not released an official notification about the delay, the change is reflected on the official website, where the “important dates” section no longer lists the previous exam dates.

Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for updates regarding the revised schedule.

The HTET 2026 is expected to see participation from around three lakh candidates, including many who could not qualify in the previous session. In the last edition of the exam, only about 14% of candidates cleared the test, highlighting its competitive nature.

About HTET 2026

The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test is a compulsory qualifying exam for candidates seeking teaching positions in government schools across Haryana. Candidates who pass the exam receive a certificate recognized by the state government, which is mandatory for teacher recruitment.

HTET is conducted at three levels:

• Level 1 (PRT): Primary Teacher

• Level 2 (TGT): Trained Graduate Teacher

• Level 3 (PGT): Post Graduate Teacher

The exam is typically held in two shifts over two days.

HTET 2026 Exam Pattern

• Each level has 150 questions, with one mark per question, totaling 150 marks.

• The duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

• No negative marking is applied.

Level 1 (PRT) - Covers Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies, assessing the candidate’s ability to teach primary-level students.

Level 2 (TGT) - Includes Child Development and Pedagogy, two language sections, and a subject-specific section (Mathematics & Science or Social Studies), evaluating teaching and subject knowledge for middle school.

Level 3 (PGT) - Features an advanced subject-specific section, in addition to Child Development and Pedagogy and Language sections, focusing on senior secondary teaching requirements.

Across all levels, the exam emphasizes candidates’ teaching skills, subject knowledge, and understanding of child development.
