The Government of Assam has released the official notification for the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026. This exam, conducted as a Special Assam TET, aims to address teaching gaps in schools that use regional language mediums.

The Special Assam TET is intended for candidates who wish to become teachers at the:

• Lower Primary (Classes 1 to 5)

• Upper Primary (Classes 6 to 8)

The application process is fully online.

Assam TET 2026 Application Dates

• Notification Release Date: January 6, 2026

• Start of Online Applications: January 7, 2026

• Last Date to Apply: February 7, 2026

Candidates can apply only through official portals: sebaonline.org, ssa.assam.gov.in, or scert.assam.gov.in.

How to Apply Online

The online application involves registration, filling personal and academic details, uploading documents, paying the fee, and submitting the form. Steps are as follows:

• First visit official website.

• Now click on the Assam TET 2026 application link.

• Register with your basic details.

• Log in using your registration credentials.

• Fill in personal and educational information.

• Upload photograph, signature, and required documents.

• Select the paper you want to appear for (Paper I or Paper II).

• Pay the application fee online.

• Submit the form and download the confirmation page.

• General: Rs 550 per paper

• SC/ST/OBC/MOBC: Rs 450 per paper

• PwD: Rs 300 per paper
  Fee must be paid separately for each paper; no refunds will be issued.

Eligibility Criteria

Paper I (Classes 1 to 5):

• Senior Secondary or equivalent with Diploma in Elementary Education or B.El.Ed

Paper II (Classes 6 to 8):

• Graduation degree along with B.Ed, D.El.Ed, or an integrated teaching program

Additional Requirements:

• Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam

• Reserved category candidates receive relaxations in minimum marks as per government norms

Exam Pattern

• Mode: Offline

• Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes per paper

• Total Marks: 150

• Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

• No negative marking

• Subjects: Child Development & Pedagogy, Languages, and Subject-specific content

Qualifying Marks and Validity

• General candidates: 60%

• Reserved categories: relaxed as per norms

• TET certificates are valid for life

• Note: Qualifying the TET does not guarantee appointment. Teacher recruitment will be done separately by the state education department when vacancies arise.
