India–Malaysia Joint Exercise Harimau Shakti 2025

The fifth edition of the Harimau Shakti exercise began at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan, running from 5 to 18 December 2025. This joint military drill is designed to boost operational cooperation between the Indian Army and the Royal Malaysian Army through structured training programs.

Participating Forces and Objectives

Troops from the Dogra Regiment represent India, while Malaysia’s contingent comes from the 25th Battalion of the Royal Malaysian Army. The exercise centers on sub-conventional operations under Chapter VII of the UN mandate, with a focus on coordinated counter-terrorism responses.

Training Modules and Tactical Exercises

The troops will engage in joint operations such as cordon-and-search missions, targeted destruction exercises, and heliborne insertions. Physical conditioning and combat readiness are reinforced through Army Martial Arts, combat reflex drills, and Yoga. Additionally, exercises include helipad security and casualty evacuation drills.

Enhancing Interoperability and Peacekeeping Readiness

Harimau Shakti 2025 aims to improve coordination between the two armies by aligning tactical procedures and communication protocols. Such joint training helps reduce risks during UN peacekeeping missions and ensures that responses are consistent with UN guidelines. It also strengthens mutual trust and operational synergy among the participating forces.
