Commemorative Postal Stamp Unveiled to Honour Rezang La Bravery of 13 Kumaon Regiment

A special commemorative postal stamp celebrating the heroic legacy of the 13th Battalion of the Kumaon Regiment has been released in New Delhi, honouring the valour displayed during the historic Battle of Rezang La. The ceremony brought together officials from the Ministry of Defence, the Department of Posts, and the team behind an upcoming war film inspired by the 1962 battle.

Tribute To 13 Kumaon Regiment

The newly unveiled ‘My Stamp’ is dedicated to the unparalleled bravery of the battalion during the 1962 India–China conflict. Featuring the renowned Rezang La War Memorial in Ladakh, the stamp serves as a reminder of the supreme sacrifice made by Major Shaitan Singh and his soldiers, who fought fiercely in extreme winter conditions against a much larger enemy force.

Association With Film ‘120 Bahadur’

The stamp release was aligned with the promotions for 120 Bahadur, an upcoming war drama based on the same battle. Actor-producer Farhan Akhtar, director Razneesh Ghai, and other members of the production team graced the event. The movie aims to introduce the story of Rezang La’s courage to today’s generation and is slated to hit theatres on November 21.

Role Of Government And Postal Department

The Department of Posts issued the stamp as a national tribute to the battalion’s historic courage. Senior officials, including the Director General of Postal Services, were present and spoke about the responsibility of preserving the stories of India’s military heroes. The Defence Minister highlighted the battle’s lasting significance and the need to honour sacrifices that have shaped the country’s defence history.
