The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has released the results of the State Level Selection Test (SLST) for assistant teachers in Classes 11 and 12. Candidates can check their results on the official website. This result marks a major step toward filling nearly 13,000 assistant teacher vacancies in government and government-aided schools across the state.

West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu stated that the examination process was conducted transparently, offering renewed optimism to thousands of candidates. He added that the initiative was made possible under the guidance of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and that the declaration of results would pave the way for fresh recruitment by December 2025.

Candidates who have cleared the written exam will now proceed to the interview round, which will assess:

After the interviews, a final merit list will be compiled based on the combined performance in both stages. Successful candidates will then be called for document verification, where they must present their original certificates, mark sheets, and valid identification documents before the final appointment.

Exam Details And Participation

Over 2.29 lakh candidates appeared for the SLST examination held on September 14, 2025.

A senior WBSSC official mentioned that it is currently unclear how many among the 26,000 teachers who lost their jobs following the Supreme Court’s April 1 verdict have cleared the new examination. However, the official expressed confidence that a significant number of eligible and untainted candidates have qualified under the revised selection process.
