The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all its affiliated schools to issue Class 11 registration numbers to students. This step is mandatory for those applying for the JEE Main 2026 examination, as the National Testing Agency (NTA) now requires candidates to enter their CBSE Class 11 registration number during the JEE Main 2026 application process.
CBSE’s Official Notification
According to the circular, “In the Class X/XII Board Examinations Date Sheet issued by the Board on October 30, 2025, it was stated that NTA would require the Class XI registration number to be filled in the JEE (Main) application form. Therefore, all schools must ensure that students applying for JEE (Main) are provided with their Class XI registration number.”
Despite earlier directions, several students and parents reported that many schools had not issued the Class XI registration numbers to students appearing for JEE Main 2026. Taking the matter seriously, CBSE has reiterated that schools must immediately provide Class 11 registration numbers to all eligible candidates to avoid application issues.
