Description
The 55th Kerala State Film Awards were announced in Thrissur by the State Minister for Fisheries, Culture, and Youth Affairs, Saji Cherian. The winners were selected from 128 film entries by a seven-member jury headed by veteran actor Prakash Raj. This year, “Manjummel Boys” emerged as the standout film, bagging several top honours including Best Film and Best Director.
Top Honours And Major Wins
Veteran actor Mammootty claimed the Best Actor award for his exceptional role in “Bramayugam”, while Shamla Hamza won Best Actress for her performance in “Feminichi Fathima”.
“Manjummel Boys”, directed by Chidambaram S Poduval, won the Best Film and Best Director awards, reaffirming its dominance across categories.
The Best Second Film title went to “Feminichi Fathima”, while the romantic comedy “Premalu” was named Best Popular Film.
Technical Brilliance And Artistic Excellence
The jury honoured exceptional craftsmanship across all filmmaking departments. “Manjummel Boys” led in multiple technical categories, including Best Cinematography (Shyju Khalid), Best Production Design (Ajayan Chalissery), Best Original Screenplay (Chidambaram S Poduval), Best Sound Design, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Lyricist (Vedan).
Meanwhile, Sushin Shyam won Best Music Director for “Bougainvillea”, and Christo Xavier took home the Best Background Score award for “Bramayugam”.
