The Shi-Yomi district administration has scheduled an environmental public hearing for the 1000MW Naying hydroelectric project on November 12, 2025, at the Yapik community hall. This project is part of Arunachal Pradesh’s Decade of Hydro Power (2025-35), aimed at expanding the state’s hydroelectric capacity.

Project Overview

The Naying hydroelectric project is a run-of-the-river scheme on the Siyom (Yomgo) river. It will consist of four 250MW units, totaling 1000MW capacity, and is expected to generate around 4,966.77 GWh of electricity annually. The project is being implemented by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO).

• Commissioning: Targeted for 2032
