The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has launched QR code-enabled Project Information Sign Boards on national highways to enhance transparency, commuter convenience, and road safety across the country.

These innovative sign boards feature vertical QR codes that motorists can scan using smartphones. Upon scanning, users gain instant access to detailed project information, including National Highway number, chainage, project length, construction and maintenance timelines, and contact details of key personnel such as the Highway Patrol, Toll Manager, Project Manager, Resident Engineer, and the local NHAI field office.
Emergency And Safety Features
The boards prominently display the emergency helpline number 1033, allowing quick access to emergency services. This initiative strengthens road safety by providing drivers with direct contact points for reporting incidents, breakdowns, or other urgent situations.
Real-Time Facility Information
In addition to project details, the QR codes offer real-time updates on nearby amenities such as hospitals, petrol stations, restrooms, restaurants, police stations, truck lay-byes, vehicle repair shops, and EV charging stations. They also indicate the distance to the nearest toll plaza, helping drivers plan stops efficiently and travel safely.
