The Director General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, has debarred 148 candidates from participating in the UP NEET PG counselling 2025-26 session. These candidates were penalised because they either did not join their allotted MD/MS seats or resigned after securing admission during the stray vacancy and special stray vacancy rounds of the previous academic year.
Reason For Debarment
As per NEET PG admission regulations, strict action is taken against candidates who either fail to join after being allotted seats or withdraw post the final round of counselling. To enforce this, the DGME has published two separate lists that include the names, NEET PG roll numbers, ranks, and institutes allotted to the disqualified candidates.
59 candidates did not report to their allotted institutes despite securing seats.
89 candidates resigned after admission.
This move aims to reduce seat wastage and ensure that postgraduate medical seats are effectively utilised.
Penalties For Non-Compliance
According to the rules:
Candidates who skip admission after being allotted a seat during the stray vacancy round lose their security deposit and are barred from counselling the following year.
Students who resign from MD/MS courses after the final counselling round are also disqualified from appearing in the next admission cycle.
