The Bihar Police Subordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) has issued the official notification for the recruitment of 1,799 Sub-Inspector (SI) posts. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the official portal. The registration process will begin on September 26, 2025 and remain open until October 26, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the Sub-Inspector posts must fulfill the following conditions:

• Nationality: Applicant must be an Indian citizen.

• Educational Qualification: Candidates should have completed graduation from a recognized university or an equivalent examination approved by the State Government on or before August 1, 2025.

• Age Limit (as on August 1, 2025):

  • General (Male): 20 to 37 years

  • General (Female): 20 to 40 years

  • Backward Class / Extremely Backward Class (Male & Female): 20 to 40 years

  • Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (Male & Female): 20 to 42 years

Selection Process

The recruitment will be conducted in three stages:

Preliminary Examination

• Mode: Objective type (MCQs)

• Questions: 100

• Marks: 200

• Duration: 2 hours

• Qualifying: Minimum 30% marks required to proceed to mains.

Main Examination (Two Papers)

• Paper I – General Hindi

  • 100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours duration

  • Minimum qualifying marks: 30% (marks not counted for merit).

• Paper II – General Studies & Other Subjects

  • Covers General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics, and Mental Ability

  • 100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours duration

• Negative Marking: 0.2 marks deducted for each wrong answer in both prelims and mains.

Physical Eligibility / Efficiency Test (PET/PEE)

• This stage is mandatory and qualifying in nature.
