The Bihar government, under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has introduced a new financial assistance programme in 2025 to support unemployed youth. Expansion Of Self-Help Allowance Scheme

The Mukhya Mantri Nishchay Swayam Sahayta Bhatta Yojana has been extended to cover a larger group of beneficiaries. Previously, the scheme supported only unemployed intermediate pass candidates. Under the new expansion, unemployed graduates between 20 and 25 years of age will receive a monthly allowance of Rupees 1,000 for two years. This support is aimed at individuals not engaged in education, employment, or self-employment, and applies to graduates from arts, science, and commerce streams.

The scheme is designed to help young people prepare for competitive examinations and take up skill development training. By offering financial support, the government hopes to enhance self-reliance among educated youth and strengthen their employability. Additional Assistance For Workers

Alongside the youth allowance, the government has extended support to construction workers. On the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, financial aid of Rupees 5,000 was directly transferred to the bank accounts of more than 16 lakh workers. Under the Annual Clothing Assistance Scheme, Rupees 802.46 crore was disbursed. Additionally, the Pratigya web portal was launched to ensure better welfare measures for contractual workers.
