India has unveiled the Sudarshan Chakra mission, an advanced indigenous multi-layered air defence system designed to safeguard strategic, civilian, and national assets from hostile aerial threats. The Sudarshan Chakra system is envisioned as India’s counterpart to Israel’s Iron Dome, capable of detecting, tracking, and neutralising enemy aircraft, drones, and missiles. • Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missiles (QRSAM)

• Very Short Range Air Defence Systems (VSHORADS)

These technologies were validated during the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) first successful test of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System. The project aims to combine kinetic weapons with directed-energy systems for maximum effectiveness.

General Anil Chauhan highlighted that India must remain ‘Shashastra’ (armed), ‘Suraksit’ (secure), and ‘Aatmanirbhar’ (self-reliant). The Sudarshan Chakra mission reflects India’s pursuit of technological sovereignty and readiness for modern warfare, while also encouraging greater public understanding of national defence strategies.
