The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the organizing body for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, has postponed the registration process. Instead of the earlier scheduled date of August 25, the online application window will now open on August 28, 2025, at the official website.
According to the revised schedule, candidates can complete their registration without a late fee until September 28, 2025. The extended application window, with a late fee, will remain open until October 9, 2025. The examination will be conducted across four days in February 2026.

September 28, 2025 – Last date for regular registration (without late fee)
October 9, 2025 – Extended registration deadline (with late fee)
February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026 – Examination dates
March 19, 2026 – Results to be declared
GATE 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be in the third year or higher of an undergraduate programme or must have already completed a degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities from a recognised institution.
The qualifying degree should be approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to programmes such as BE, BTech, BArch, BPlanning, etc.
Candidates pursuing or holding an equivalent qualification from a foreign university are also eligible to apply.
