A delegation of thirty-four students from government schools across India is set to participate in the Sakura Science Programme 2025 in Japan, an initiative designed to foster scientific curiosity and international collaboration among young learners.
About Sakura Science Programme
The Sakura Science Programme is a prestigious Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science, launched in 2014 to inspire scientific exploration and innovation among students while promoting cross-cultural understanding. India became a participant in this programme in 2016, enabling Indian students to engage with advanced scientific research and interact with peers from Japan and other participating countries.
Implemented by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), the programme provides students with opportunities for short-term visits to Japan, during which they gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge scientific laboratories, attend lectures and workshops, and explore Japanese culture and technological advancements.
For Sakura Science Programme 2025, JST has expanded participation to include students from six other countries: Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia, fostering a diverse and collaborative learning environment.

Develop Global Scientific Talent: The programme seeks to nurture talented young individuals with the potential to make meaningful contributions to innovation in science and technology.
Promote International Brain Circulation: By encouraging mobility among young researchers and students, the initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, skills, and ideas across borders.
