Description
Exercise SLINEX is a bilateral maritime exercise conducted between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lanka Navy. The series, first initiated in 2005, has now become a cornerstone of naval cooperation between the two countries. Structure Of Exercise

Harbour Phase
Includes professional exchanges, Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) programs, and discussions on evolving maritime tactics.
Cultural and social interactions, sporting events, and yoga sessions are held to build camaraderie and promote people-to-people ties.
Training in communication procedures, technical demonstrations, and operational planning ensures smooth coordination during the sea phase.
Sea Phase
Focuses on complex operational drills and real-time tactical exercises.
Activities include gunnery firing, seamanship evolutions, advanced navigation exercises, and fueling at sea operations.
Special emphasis is placed on Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) operations, which are critical for counter-piracy, counter-terrorism, and anti-smuggling missions.
Drills also enhance communication protocols and cooperative maneuvers, ensuring both navies can operate jointly in multilateral environments.

The last edition, SLINEX 2024, was hosted at Visakhapatnam, India, where both navies successfully carried out a series of maritime operations demonstrating high levels of professionalism and operational synergy.
