In a historic development for Indian football, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and FIFA have partnered to establish the nation’s first FIFA Talent Academy exclusively for girls. The academy, located in Hyderabad, Telangana, aims to revolutionize women's football by offering state-of-the-art facilities, structured training programs, and comprehensive development opportunities for emerging players.
FIFA-AIFF Collaboration Sealed At Telangana Sports Conclave
The initiative was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the Telangana Sports Conclave held in Hyderabad. The signing ceremony was graced by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey. The academy falls under FIFA’s global Talent Development Scheme (TDS), a strategic framework focused on identifying and nurturing promising young players across the world.
The Gachibowli Stadium Complex has been selected as the academy’s base. The facility will accommodate 30 boys and 30 girls annually, offering them residential care, academic support, medical services, proper nutrition, and mental health guidance.
A Milestone For Girls’ Football In India
This initiative marks a turning point in the development of women’s football in the country. As the first academy of its kind in India and one of the few worldwide under FIFA’s TDS, it opens doors for aspiring young girls to pursue football professionally. It also ensures that female athletes from Telangana and other regions gain access to world-class coaching and international exposure.

The academy plays a pivotal role in India’s broader vision of qualifying for the FIFA U17 World Cups both for men and women.
