Air New Zealand has named Indian-origin executive Nikhil Ravishankar as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking a historic leadership shift for the airline. Ravishankar will assume the role on October 20, 2025, taking over from Greg Foran, who announced his departure earlier this year. His appointment comes at a time when the airline is facing growing climate challenges, rising operational costs, digital disruptions, and evolving passenger expectations.

Currently serving as Chief Digital Officer (CDO) at Air New Zealand, Ravishankar has been instrumental in driving the airline’s digital modernization strategy over the past five years. His work has enhanced customer experience, upgraded loyalty systems, and strengthened the company’s technology framework.
An alumnus of the University of Auckland, Ravishankar holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours). Beyond his corporate role, he actively mentors and advises leadership and innovation programs across New Zealand, reflecting his commitment to nurturing future talent.

Before joining Air New Zealand, Ravishankar served as Chief Digital Officer at Vector New Zealand, leading major digital transformation initiatives. His career also includes senior roles at Accenture in Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as experience in technology strategy and transformation at Telecom New Zealand (now Spark).
