Indian scientists have discovered a new species of lichen, named Allographa effusosoredica, in the ecologically rich Western Ghats. This finding signifies a major advancement in the study of biodiversity and lichenology in the country. With this addition, Allographa effusosoredica becomes the 53rd species of its genus found in India, and the 22nd from the Western Ghats region alone.
