The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the timetable for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2025 on its website. According to the schedule, the Mains exam will commence on August 22, 2025 (Friday) with the Essay Paper, and conclude on August 31, 2025 with the Optional Subject Paper-II.
The examination will be conducted in two shifts each day:
Morning Session: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Afternoon Session: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

This year's Civil Services Examination (CSE) is being held to fill 979 vacancies, which include several reserved posts under the Benchmark Disability category:
12 vacancies for candidates with blindness or low vision
7 vacancies for those who are deaf or hard of hearing
10 vacancies for individuals with locomotor disabilities
9 vacancies for candidates with multiple disabilities, including deaf-blindness
The CSE Preliminary Exam was conducted earlier on May 25, 2025, featuring two multiple-choice question (MCQ) papers, each of two hours duration and carrying 200 marks. The Prelims results were declared in June 2025.
Following the Mains written test, shortlisted candidates will be invited for the Personality Test/Interview round, after which the final results will be published.
