Description
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has introduced a new national-level competition named ‘Kalaa Setu – Real-Time Language Tech for Bharat’, as part of its WaveX Startup Accelerator Platform. This initiative calls upon startups to design AI-driven tools capable of converting written content into audio, video, or graphic formats in multiple Indian languages. The move aims to foster innovation in language-based technology and expand digital content accessibility for regional users.
Objective Of Kalaa Setu Challenge
The core aim of this challenge is to encourage the development of intelligent, scalable, and user-friendly AI solutions that can transform textual input into diverse media formats, making regional content creation more seamless and widespread. The challenge is structured around three key categories:
Text-to-Video Conversion
Text-to-Graphics Generation
Text-to-Audio Transformation
Startups must design tools that are adaptable and practical for use across different types of media, helping to democratize digital content creation in local languages.
Participation And Deadlines
Eligible startups can submit their entries for the Kalaa Setu Challenge via the WaveX portal at www.wavex.wavesbazaar.com. The last date to apply is July 30, 2025.
Additionally, under the Bhasha Setu category, a separate challenge is being held focusing on real-time language translation technologies. The deadline for Bhasha Setu applications is July 22, 2025.
About WaveX And WAVES Initiative
WaveX is an accelerator program under the broader WAVES (Women, Audio-Visual, Entrepreneurs, Startups) initiative launched by the MIB. It is specifically designed to nurture startups in the media, entertainment, and language tech sectors.
