Recognised for their long, parrot-beak-shaped tips, these mangoes are prized for their suitability in pulp and juice production. Major food companies, including multinational brands, rely on this cultivar to manufacture mango-based beverages.

According to the Andhra Pradesh administration, the ban aims to safeguard local growers from economic losses caused by price disparities. Karnataka's Totapuri mangoes are currently priced between ?5 to ?6 per kilogram, whereas Andhra Pradesh has set its procurement rate at ?8 per kilogram.
