India reinforced its leadership in telecom innovation by hosting the 3rd meeting of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) Focus Group on AI-Native for Telecommunication Networks (FG-AINN) in New Delhi from June 11 to 13, 2025. The event was organized by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and focused on transforming telecom infrastructure by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a central element rather than an add-on.

The conference spotlighted the future of AI-native telecommunications, where AI would drive the intelligence, automation, and adaptability of network systems. At the same time, India announced its interest in hosting the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2030 (PP-30) and nominated Ms. M. Revathi as the first female and regional candidate for Director of the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau (2027–2030). The event also featured Build-a-Thon 2025, promoting the co-development of innovative AI solutions for the telecom sector.
