Description
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Prelims Result 2025 on June 11, 2025. Candidates who appeared for the preliminary exam can now check their results on the UPSC official website.
With the prelims result now out, successful candidates will proceed to the Main Examination, which comprises a written test and a personality interview. The UPSC CSE Mains 2025 is scheduled to commence from August 22, 2025.
About CSE Prelims 2025
The preliminary exam was conducted on May 25, 2025, and consisted of two objective-type papers (multiple-choice questions). Each paper was of two hours duration and carried 200 marks. The exam followed a negative marking scheme, where one-third (0.33) of the marks allotted to a question were deducted for every incorrect response.
Recruitment Overview
This year, the UPSC is recruiting to fill a total of 979 vacancies across various prestigious government services. These include:
Indian Administrative Service (IAS)
Indian Police Service (IPS)
Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
The total also includes 38 reserved positions for candidates under the Benchmark Disability category:
12 vacancies for blindness/low vision
7 for deaf and hard of hearing
10 for locomotor disabilities
9 for multiple disabilities, including deaf-blindness
