Bengaluru Urban District has seen the clearing of 128 acres of encroached forest land in the past two years.
Across Karnataka, over 6,251 acres of forest land have been reclaimed, and 1,205 cases of illegal encroachments have been officially recorded.
Plans are underway to transform a 153-acre tract of former eucalyptus plantation near Yelahanka into a public urban forest park to enrich city biodiversity.
