China and Pakistan have announced plans to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into Afghanistan, aiming to boost trilateral cooperation among the three countries. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a major infrastructure project launched in 2015 under China’s broader Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Initially valued at around US$46 billion, the project’s worth has now increased to approximately US$62 billion.
