Madhya Pradesh has launched the Rahveer Scheme to reward good Samaritans who assist accident victims. The announcement came during a special cabinet meeting held at the historic Rajwada Fort in Indore. Under this scheme, individuals who help transport accident victims to medical facilities will receive a financial incentive of Rs 25,000. The program aims to reduce the high number of road accidents in the state, which recorded over 54,000 incidents in 2022.
Rahveer Scheme Overview
The Rahveer Scheme motivates bystanders to provide timely help to accident victims. To be eligible, helpers must stop at the accident scene, contact a 108 ambulance, and assist in transporting the injured to a healthcare center. The initiative also seeks to remove the fear of police harassment, encouraging more people to intervene during emergencies, potentially saving many lives.
Financial Allocation
The Madhya Pradesh cabinet has approved a total funding package of Rs 3,867 crore for various development projects. The Rahveer Scheme is part of this wider budget aimed at enhancing social welfare, urban infrastructure, and healthcare services throughout the state.
Youth Employment Programs
The cabinet approved the Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Training Scheme designed to boost youth employment by providing skill development opportunities. This scheme offers eligible participants an annual interest subsidy on loans to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Women’s Workforce Support
To increase women’s participation in industry, the government sanctioned the construction of 26 hostels for working women. These facilities will offer secure accommodation and modern amenities, supporting women’s entry into the workforce. The initiative involves collaboration with private companies and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
Urban Development Plans
New Metropolitan Development Authorities have been established for major cities like Indore and Bhopal. These bodies will manage urban growth, ensuring the balance between current municipal services and future development needs, aiming to improve city living standards.
Healthcare Improvements
Significant investments are planned to upgrade healthcare infrastructure, with Rs 773 crore allocated for modernizing MY Hospital in Indore. Additionally, Rs 321 crore has been earmarked for the district hospital in Rewa to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality.
Cultural And Spiritual Initiatives
The cabinet approved a Rs 2,100 crore project focused on creating a statue of Adi Shankaracharya in Omkareshwar. This cultural initiative will also include hostels and a spiritual research center, aiming to preserve and promote Sanatan traditions while enriching the state’s cultural heritage.
