Tapan Kumar Deka, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has been granted a one-year extension as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), India’s top domestic intelligence agency. His continuation in the role is permitted under special provisions that allow service extensions beyond the mandatory retirement age of 60 in the public interest.
