The Government of India has introduced a transformative initiative titled ‘Sagar Mein Samman’, aimed at increasing women's participation in the maritime industry. Remarkable Rise In Women Seafarers
India has witnessed a significant increase in the number of women seafarers, rising from just 341 in 2014 to 2,557 in 2024 a growth of 649%. In this period, nearly 3,000 women have received financial aid, underscoring the government’s proactive efforts to bring more women into the field.
