Iran has recently unveiled the Ghassem Basir, a new solid-fuel medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) designed to target locations over 1,200 kilometers away.
Features Of Ghassem Basir Missile
Size and Weight: The missile is approximately 11 meters in length and weighs around 7 tons.
Materials and Structure: Its airframe is made from carbon fiber composite materials, which reduce both the structural weight and radar signature, improving stealth.
Warhead: The missile is equipped with a warhead weighing approximately 500 kilograms.
Propulsion: The missile uses solid fuel, offering quicker launch readiness and more stable storage conditions compared to liquid-fueled systems.
Speed: It can reach speeds of up to Mach 12, making it highly fast and difficult to intercept.
Guidance System: The Ghassem Basir uses a thermal imaging sensor in its guidance system, enabling it to detect and lock onto targets based on their heat signatures during the terminal phase of flight.
Maneuverability: It features a maneuverable reentry vehicle (MaRV), which separates from the missile's booster to enhance ballistic efficiency by reducing drag and improving its radar evasion capabilities.
Launch Platforms: The missile can be launched from mobile transporter-erector-launchers (TELs), which are often based on platforms resembling civilian trucks, making it highly mobile and harder to detect.
