The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to postpone the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate programs, as per information obtained by The Indian Express. An official announcement regarding the new schedule is expected later today.
Sources indicate that the NTA has informed the University Grants Commission (UGC) about its inability to conduct the exam according to the previously announced timeline. A meeting between the NTA and UGC is scheduled for today to discuss and finalize the new dates for the exam. A formal update on the revised exam dates will be shared following the discussions.
The delay in the CUET schedule is primarily attributed to the NTA's focus on administering the NEET-UG exam held last Sunday, which has led to a postponement of CUET preparations. As a result, the NTA has requested additional time to finalize the arrangements for CUET. This has caused confusion among many aspiring candidates, who are still waiting for their exam city slips and clear communication on the detailed schedule.
The CUET-UG 2025 will be held entirely in computer-based test (CBT) mode, covering all 37 subjects. Each subject will have a 60-minute duration and will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions. Depending on the availability of exam centers, the exam will be conducted in two to three shifts daily. Unlike in previous years, the NTA has not released a formal date sheet but will instead provide details through city intimation slips, which will include information about exam centers and possibly the dates for each subject.
The delay in communication has raised concerns, particularly for students and parents who need to make travel and accommodation arrangements. The CUET-UG 2025 will be available in 13 Indian languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
There is no age limit for candidates wishing to take the CUET-UG 2025, but candidates must meet any specific age criteria set by the university or institution they wish to apply to. All candidates should refer to the official information bulletin on the NTA website for detailed instructions.
