Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the seventh edition of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) from Patna, Bihar, marking a major milestone in the state’s sports journey. This is the first time Bihar is hosting a national-level multi-sport youth event, underscoring its emergence as a rising hub for sports development in India.
Spread across five cities Patna, Rajgir, Bhagalpur, Gaya, and Begusarai with some events also being held in New Delhi, the 2025 edition brings together over 10,000 participants, including more than 6,000 young athletes, competing in 27 different sports disciplines. The Games also mark the debut of esports as a demonstration event, reflecting the changing landscape of competitive sports in the digital age.
