Description
Finalists from 11 Indian cities, selected through a series of regional contests over several months, are set to compete in the national grand finale of WAM! (WAVES Anime & Manga Contest). The final showdown will take place during the WAVES 2025 summit, scheduled from May 1 to May 4, 2025, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

WAM! is a first-of-its-kind initiative in India aimed at discovering, encouraging, and showcasing original Indian talent in the realms of anime, manga, webtoons, and cosplay. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with the Media & Entertainment Association of India (MEAI), the contest seeks to build a vibrant ecosystem for Indian creators by giving them a national platform.
This initiative represents a major push to promote original Indian intellectual properties (IPs) in content genres that have traditionally been dominated by global players, especially from countries like Japan and South Korea. By hosting regional contests across the country, WAM! has uncovered fresh voices and unique narratives ready for global exposure.
WAVES 2025: A Global Platform For India Creative Power
WAVES (World Audio-Visual & Entertainment Summit) 2025 is a flagship event launched to establish India as a global leader in the AVGC-XR sector, which includes Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality.
With the central theme “Create in India, Create for the World,” WAVES 2025 brings together innovators, industry leaders, studios, and creators from across the world to showcase and discuss India’s evolving media and entertainment landscape.
